Sharon Township Cemetery rules

Cemetry Hours

HOURS OF OPERATION:
30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.
Members of the general public in the cemetery after hours may be prosecuted for trespassing.

ANIMALS: Animals, except leader dogs, are not permitted.

DAMAGE: No person shall injure, deface or destroy any burial space, marker, monument, mausoleum, building fence, seat, flower, tree, shrub or other item.

ALCOHOL: Alcohol and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

SPEED LIMIT: 5 miles per hour. Driving off the established cemetery roads is prohibited.

FIREARMS: No firearms are allowed in the cemetery without written permission from the Township Clerk or Township Sexton, except in the case of military funerals or ceremonies by official veterans’ organizations on federal holidays.

DECORATIONS: Grave blankets must be removed by Memorial Day. Memorial items such as plastic flowers, vases and mementos must be removed by Labor Day. No flowers, shrubs, trees or vegetation of any type may be planted without the approval of the Township Sexton. Any of these planted without approval may be removed. Vases, displays or containers that have become an unsightly source of litter or a maintenance problem will be removed by the Township Sexton. Dried flowers, wreaths, papers, flower containers and all other refuse must be removed or deposited in containers located within the cemetery
